Today I wanted to show you a really cool way to turn any of your nail polishes into holographic (or holo) polish! I've used holo top coats before which work amazingly, but did you know you can also get holographic nail foil which does the same thing? Born Pretty Store were kind enough to send me some holo nail foil* to try out.
The foil comes rolled in a plastic tube and you cut off how much you need. You don't need very much though so it will last a long time :)
Products Used:
- Ünt Ready for Takeoff (peel off base coat)
- Barry M Raspberry
- Born Pretty Store Foil Glue
- Born Pretty Store Holographic Nail Foil (pattern #132)*
- Little Ondine Secret (water based top coat)
After applying a base coat and painting 2 coats of my raspberry polish, I painted a thin layer of foil glue. Once the foil glue turned transparent, I pressed the holo foil onto my nail to transfer the holo design and applied a water based top coat. The reason for this is that a normal top coat crinkles foil designs.
The foil looked really good in direct light (right) but in more diffused lighting (left) the base colour seemed a little muted as you can see above. I still think they are a really cool alternative if you don't want to spend lots of money buying lots of holographic polish!
You can buy this holographic nail foil (pattern #132) from Born Pretty Store for $1.99
I also have a code you can use to get 10% off your order at Born Pretty Store. Just type ZZYX31 at checkout :)
Will you be trying out holographic nail foil? Let me know what you think and I'll be back soon with some more nail art!
